There always seems to be a new technology invention. It has changed the way our society functions and how we work. What will be the next big invention? Scientist Raymond Kurzweil believes that “we're approaching a moment when computers will become intelligent, and not just intelligent but more intelligent then humans.” He says that this is inevitable. Not only will they be more intelligent then humans but Kurzweil believes that computers will merge with humans. If this is true, humans would have intelligence greater then anyone has ever seen. Yes that will be a good thing, but will all humans be cyborgs? Is being a cyborg a good thing? What will happen to normal civilization? Kurzweil also believes that the end of human civilization as we know it is only thirty-five years away. I believe that this is kind of scary. I am a big fan of technology but to merge with it and have it cause an end of our civilization seems scary. Also, his predictions say that if humans merge with these computers it will treat the effects of old aging and prolong death. If these predictions come true, yes it will make help our world but could it harm it? In the movie irobot the robots are supposed to be helpful to human society but end up turning on the humans and causing a war between humans and robots. His predictions may be true but will it be beneficial for our society? I guess we'll have to wait thirty-five years like Kurzweil said.
