Technology has greatly changed our world. It changed how we socialize, communicate, work, etc. However some tend to say that that their life has not been changed by technology. They tend to stick to traditional beliefs and forget about what technology has proven. In the essay by Alec C. Hawley, it is argued that the use of technology has played the same role as religion is to others. It is supported by H.G. Wells' novel War of the Worlds. The author also supports his thesis by referring to Charles Darwin and his Theory of Evolution.
By using technology to support his thesis, it supports Darwin's theory at the same time. With the discovery of DNA, and fossils this supports that technology has helped prove Darwin's theory. But in War of the Worlds it is not technology that saves the human race, but all the microorganism that are on this earth. But now that raises the question how did these organisms get here? Was it God? Or did they just evolve? And why was our technology not able to conquer the martians? The martians have more advanced technology and are able to conquer the human technology.
The use of technology helps prove Darwin's theory and itself at the same time. The way that this story is portrayed proves more then just a story. It can relate to many different things which proves a lot of theories.
